Welcome to 2007-8 Meadows Library Media Aides

Welcome to 2006-7 Meadows Library Media Aides
This year, you will write at least one paragraph every night that you had a Library Media Aide class during the day. The purpose for this assignment is to strengthen your descriptive writing skills and provide a record for yourself, your parents and for me about what you do each day during this class. I prefer 3 paragraphs of well-written, correctly spelled descriptive record of what you did during your Library Media Aide class. This blog participation is one rubric for this class. The more that you write the higher your grade will be in the class.

I definitely think media aide is what I want to do this year. On Monday we took a tour of the library and learned where everything went. We filled out index cards with our information. Learning how to scan was really fun because in my old library I loved to scan books I did it everyday that I could. I am really excited for doing power points and all the technology stuff because I LOVE technology and I need to teach my mom because she is a technophobe. We even got to see what happens if you forget to demagnetize the books when someone checks them in.

Aug 22, 07

Today we learned how to make a blog and started them obviously

Monday was my first day of media aid. We learned how to check in all the books and how to magnetize them. We took a tour. We are going to do power point. She asked us if we were better in language arts or math. When we were on our tour, we passed the magazines. We went to the A books and the B books and C’s….etc.

Monday was my first day of media aid and it was really cool. I if I could do any job at the library it would the check out desk or at least check in books. The only thing that was kind of confused me was that you had to magnetize the books because it seemed like it could have been done in different ways that may have worked better than how I could do it and faster if you were in pressure. Today we found out what we’ll be doing this year. Ms. Roof showed us the library and told us were the people turn in the books. We filled out these card thingies. She told us we would be blogging, and doing wickies. There’s a lot of technical things for the library’s, but I’m just fine with that.

August 20th Ms. Roof showed us around the library and told us what to do in the morning to the computers in the library. One of us would type in the names, one would scan, and one would demagnatize the books and stamp bookmarks. It was very fun to check in and out that many books for the first time.

Tomorrow will be my 4th class in media aid and I wonder if a class will be come in, on my 3rd class of media aid a 8th grade class came in and they were learning about junior sociality and the books they had to read over the summer if they wanted to be in that group.
Today when i went to the library there was media aid students there that helped me to check out books and they seemed to know what they were doing. I wonder if in 7th grade i will seem that way too?

Today in class we worked on magizine subscriptions. We checked the date of the magizine and marked it's presence on it's card. To make sure the date was easily visible, I would put a white sticker in the corner of the left hand corner of the cover and write the month and the year. It didn't take as long as I thought it would due to team work. We also reviewed checking in books and magnitizing and demagnitizing them.

8/22, My first day here was pretty fun. I checked out books to the 6th grade English class. We had to put in a couple of passwords to start it up but I thought it was pretty fun. Media Aid is my favorite class so far.

Today I had fun. We got to stamp the new books that came in and we learned how to laminate things. We laminated so many book covers and stamped probably about 50 books. Andy and Mary had this big fight about which pile was the pile of books that were done being stamped it’s was pretty funny. That’s basically all we did today but surprisingly enough yes I did have fun.

Last media aid I got to stamp the new books that Mrs. Roof ordered and bought with the official meadows stamp on the inside and the spine. Andy and I also got to to laminate the book covers of some off the new books. The machine that you use to laminate the covers was big and kind of scary, but i got through it ok. After we laminated the book covers we had to cut the book covers out of the plastic from the laminator. Now I see how hard the librarian work and Mrs. Roof has to work pretty hard if that's what she has to do.

Today we cut up laminated covers. It was really fun! Phoebe caught on really fast and had like five done before I had one. Then she told me her trick, and I thought she was really slow. I got to be faster then her. That’s about it. Overall, that’s all we did. Mary was still trying to get her blogging done. Mary eventually got it to blog! YEA MARY! Well anyway, I’m done typing. Bye!
