Welcome to 2006-7 Meadows Library Media Aides
This year, you will write at least one paragraph every night that you had a Library Media Aide class during the day. The purpose for this assignment is to strengthen your descriptive writing skills and provide a record for yourself, your parents and for me about what you do each day during this class. I prefer 3 paragraphs of well-written, correctly spelled descriptive record of what you did during your Library Media Aide class. This blog participation is one rubric for this class. The more that you write the higher your grade will be in the class.

Today in Media aid we all put stickers in list of books indicating who the book was donated from. I also checked in a couple of books and magnetized them.
Today in Meadows library we learned how to send out over due notices. We wrote notes on them indicating what to do if it was not a Meadows library book. Also, I checked books in and magnitzed them as well as put in a few magnitizing strips.
September 12th
Today we got to stamp some of the books and it was very fun, I got to use that sweet giant stamp that you stamp the back of the books with. At one point though I thought that I was in the wrong pile of books because it seemed all people stamped was the back page. To say the least I was really annoyed. }: (but it turned out I was juts re-doing Mary’s pile. For some reason she didn’t know she was supposed to put her books in a different pile and stamp the books correctly. Britt was really mad! She had spent the whole period straightening books and alphabetizing the pile, because of Mary she had to star all over!
September 14th
Today we got to straighten the book shelves! It was really fun until I tripped on Brittany. Apparently she didn’t like how the bottom shelf was set up with books so she started to align them, I didn’t like the top shelf books so I was aligning the books up there and then “BOOM!” Britt lost all her books and fell on her face I tripped on her foot and curled up like a ball and fell. Luckily my face broke my fall :E
September 12th
Today we got to stamp some of the library books. I was really fun! I got to use the biggest one! YEA! It was like the one that you stamp the dates on book marks. Oh yea, it was really funny because Phoebe thought I was getter her more books, when I was sitting by her, but she was really re-doing Mary’s pile. I got annoyed, and attempted to alphabetize the books because Mary really wanted to use my stamper.
September 14th
Today we got to organize books! Well, it may not seem exciting, but it was! All I wanted to do organize the bottom shelf, but than Phoebe came and tripped on my feet! Then later she was doing the top shelf and she fell of the stool thingy because it was wobbly, and she fell on me, again! She kept falling all day! What had she eaten?
September 18, 07
Today we labeled some books. I checked the dispenser for cash but there was none.
And we added some books into the computer.
Today in media aid September 18, 2007, Hanna and I were magnetizing some books. Next, Mary and I were putting tape over the spines of some books. Today was really fun and Mary and I were kind of jealous because Hanna was the one who got to go onto the smart board, but I didn’t get to mad because she didn’t get to go on when Andy, Mary and I were playing, she just read, and I wasn’t getting very mad, just at andy that day. Today was a BLAST!
Today we put tape on the spine labels. It wasn’t very fun but I got to blog on the smart board, which was totally awesome. We also checked in books when we got in after all there were a bunch of them. After we checked them in we had to magnitize them and try to set off the alarm so we know that they are ready to go back on the shelves.
September 17, 2007 all of the students in media aide put other students late charge fees in their teachers cubbies. And we checked in a couple of books.
September 18,2007- Today in media aide I helped try to find new books people brought in for the library.I scanned barcodes to check in the books that were brought back from other students.
Today in media aid Abby and I printed the bookmarks we made and got to cut them out. We also were starting to make different ones.

September 17
Today we got to work with magazines. We took the new additions and put them in the holder where the old one was. It was really, sort of fun. Phoebe had a hard time finding the magazines, so that was my job. She also had a hard time putting them in the holder, so that was my job too. She also had a terrible time trying to get them out of the rack, I showed her where the magazine was, and told her what to grab. I said to grab the teaching one and she went off in lala land and grabbed a sport one. When she pulled out the sport book she got scared by me saying "Phoebe" she was scared and hit my smack dab in the middle of the forehead. OUCH! Well, it didn't hurt very much, but I had a HUGE red mark on my forehead. Then we went into the room in the back and put the old editions away. She handed me every book that she couldn't find...which was all of them . Well let’s just say, she's her! When I told her were to put the sports illustrated she put it in the wrong case, so I had to take it from her. Well, that was fine. It was a fun day with my bestest friend in a great class!

Today we got to organize the magazines! It was uber fun! But when I tried to get a magazine out of the rack Brittany scared me so bad I accidentally threw it up in the air and hit her square in the forehead with the magazine! That was hilarious! She didn't realize what hit her until she looked down and saw the magazine spread all over the ground she had a huge red lump on her head and kept rubbing her forehead where the collision happened. After that we had to put the old magazines away and I'll be the first to say I totally stink at that! I got really confizzled on where to put the magazines. I really wish I was taller and actually understood the alphabet...woops! Not to bad! I found out where to put the sports illustrated though! All in all it wasn’t too bad!
September 19, 2007 was my first day. I met Ms.Ruth and opened a G-mail account and saw the other students working around the library, checking in and out library books and making the beeper go off.
Sept. 17, 07--
Today we put the special plates in the donated books. We had to find the right books, and not all the books we needed were there. Today I found out that when we blog, we should be writing at least three sentences. Whoops.
Sept. 19, 07--
Today, the whole period was spent checking in books and magnetizing them. A whole lot of books didn't go off when they should have, but only one or two actually never went off at all. A class came in while the checking in/magnetizing/beeping process was going on, so there was some checking out of books, too.
Today in Media Aide, Mrs.Whitney's class came in. At forst Logan and I were checking out books, and Tom was helping people find books. Then Tom got bored because no one needed help, so he decided to come join us. Then we were all crowded behind the computer, so we told Tom to go help people. He did. After that, this kid had a really overdue book, and it took us about 10 minutes to check it out. We had to call over Tom, Mrs. Roof, everyone. It was pretty fun though, because it's fun to laugh at now.
September 19, 2007 Ms. Whitney's class came we helped them check in books and check out books. When we checked in books we had to go through the scanner to make sure that the beeper goes off.
Today in media aid Ms. Whitney’s class came in. At first Katie and I were checking books out, and Tom was helping kids find the right book. Towards the end I magnetized a couple of books with Katie.
Today we put labels of the different kinds of genres on books. I got to magnetize a book, and then go test it to see if the alarm would go off. It was really fun!
Today in Media Aide i first came in and did the annoucements with allie then i organized the annoucements for Thursday. Next I went to the office to bring them an annoucement for the afternoon anouncements. When I got back to the library I cataloged a lot of books, I am better now at cataloging that i was last on Monday I think and I probably made a lot less mistakes this time.

Today I helped some kids find the books they’re looking and. I checked the pen/pencil dispenser. We also put more books on the desks.

Today Ms.Roof tought us how to create a blog and post messages. She had us create a gmail but i can't post them at home so i have to do them at school.
Today in media aid September 20, 2007, I did the silent announcement power point. I also checked in books and magnetized them. All I did on the silent announcements was to put some book names on there, and what I didn’t realize was if people have there televisions in class on power point (the silent on) they could see me typing.

Today i realized that i have been posting my blogs with the incorrect dates. Well any way, today i played on the smart board and did nothing of value. But i did keep drawing over what they were writing! :)

yesterday we put away books, checked in a bunch of books and remagnitized them it was fun. i guess. it was a little more difficult with andy but i think ms.roof put us together because out of the people in my media aide class i get along with him the best so i won't argue.

today we checked out books when there was a big pile of books in which people put their names on a post it note. that was pretty fun i do have to say.the next part on the other hand wasn't as fun. we got the task of sperating about 12 packs of new bookmarks. that's all we really did today and it was a mix of fun and annoying.

Today we checked in books magnetized them then made sure they worked. I also got to organize the books catalogs. Now that was so fun. Yippee!!! This was one of the more boring days but then we got to blog in class time so there were no worries about homework for media aide.

Today me and Ashley checked out some people and checked in books. We also put the books in order by number which gave us a practice in math. We also did popularity points for the books and that was fun.

I forgot to tell you i also put a secret "ingredients" type thing you could call it in the book it was really sneaky. Just telling all of you dont try to steal any books thats a very very bad idea because they will get you and catch you lol

Sept. 21, 07--
Today I did a little bit of the checking in books, but not even close to as much as on the 20th. For the rest of the period, I got a list of books that I checked on the computer to see which ones we have here at the school library. There was a 7th or 8th grade class filming their book reports, so that was kind of fun to watch.
Today in Media Aid me, Katie, and Tom catologed books. We had to put a pile of books into the system or made sure they already were. Katie kept on scanning the same book twice, causing it to mess it up!!! It was alright though because we ended up laughing about it in the end!

Today we searched for books on the computer and wrote down if we had them or not. We had a lot of fun typing, it gave us good practice in typing. I finished a lot of them and Ashley always had a long title so she finished after but thats ok. We didnt finish it but we did about ten all together with me Ashley, and Parker. I ma really enjoying blogging now that I can actually log into g-mail!
Today in Media Aide, we helped check out some books for kids. I also checked in and magnatized some books, and stamped them. And finally, I cataloged some books. This is what I did in Media Aide today.
Today we saw if we had the books on the list. We were suppost to see how many copies there were. If she had them we were to right how many copies she had. We also checked books in and learned a "secret" about the books.
Today in Media Aide, we searched for books to see if they were already catalogged. Then we catalogged the ones that hadn't been done yet.It was very, very fun.
On wednesday we checked books out to Ms. Whitney's class. It was the first real time I have really checked anyone out before. We also checked many books in due to the students in Ms.Whitney's class. We magnitixed and demagnitized books too!
On Friday we checked some books in that were in the bucket. We also had a few kids that needed to check books out but not many. Then we cataloged books into the computer and gave them barcodes. It was confusing but once you get the hang of it it's not so confusing.
Today we cataloged new books. I also checked some books that had been done wrong. I did all this while moving around the phone guy.

Today we put on book plates. Book plates are stickers on the inside of the cover. They tell who donated a book.
On Thursday, in media aid Abby and I weeded books and then put those books in a box. We also put the books back in the right order. I liked weeding books better then putting them away!
September 20,2007- In media aide I had to organize books in alphabetical order. It was a little confusing because there were so many books to put in order. The confusing part was that each time I had finally put the books in order I had to keep bringing the books down so they could all fit.
9/20/07- first we organized books. Then we put most of them back on the shelf. We could only get thru to about the end of C.

Today i blogged alot because i couldn't do anything else. we checked in a few books but besides that that was it. Media Aid is boring sometimes and fun other times is what i learned. I also learned how too tipe know!
Today in media aid, September 24, 2007 we checked in some books that students had dropped off. Then I magnetized some. After that we, made sure they worked when we magnetized then and only one didn’t work. And then, we glued some of the books that torn apart and Andy was getting a little mad, so we let him do them. Third, and last, I blogged at 1:24 p.m.
Monday 24,2007- In media aide I had to type up my blog.After that I organized teacher's names on papers for their students late fees on their library books.Then I put the papers inside their mail boxes.
Today in media aid Abby and I fixed book spins with this weird tree glue. We also crossed out to young of reading level books to order for the school library.

Thursday September 20
Today we got to alphabetize the books! : ) it was uber fun!. Brittany and I got to collect the stray books of the shelf in the fiction center. It was going rather mechanically, ex. I would find the books then pass them to Brittany, then she would hand the books to Marry who would then file them. Sadly what disturbed the monotony was when I went to hand the book to pass the books to Brittany, but she wasn’t paying any attention so I accidentally smashed her in the back of the head when she wasn’t looking.
September 24th
Once again we got to mark the overdue book notices. I was having a fun time cutting the book notices apart after they were printed but Britt had to be a meanie (lol) and beg me for a turn chopping then up, and of course. Who can resist those puppy eyes? Worst mistake ever. She ended up making them exactly perfect but guess what it only took ten minutes to cut apart five. If that’s not time management what is? Then the fun started! We got to write on them and tell people to return our books. Sadly a lot of people had books checked out in the Simis district so I had to write a lot : ( but all in all it was fun

Today was fun. Phoebe on the other hand was laughing at me because she accidently hit me on the head. Well, that only happened because I was being blonde. I wasn't paying attention. Other wise it was fun picking up the stray books was a blast!

Today we did the over due book orders. Me with being a perfectionist wanted to do the cutting of cutting them in half. She was cutting them like really badly. So eventually she let me have a turn. It took about 10 minutes to cut like five though. I'm really annoyed by uneven things. Then when people had a missing book from Simis, Park, or #1 we had to write "Please return your -Name of school- or pay name of school-" It was quite fun.
This afternoon in Media Aid, Tom and I catologed books. I had to make sure that the people before us had done them right. It turned out that many of the ones that they did were incorrect so I had to go back and do them! It is ok though because it was fun.
September 25,2007 i helped magnatized books, and put them through the security system, and we put the books away in alphabetical and numerical order.
Sept. 25, 07--
Today, I checked up more books on the computer to see if they are at the library here at school. Only a couple were. The vision/hearing screening was today, so I got to watch some students do that.
Today in Media Aide, I first checked in some books, but did not run them through the scanner because there was hearing and vision screening going on. Next, I cataloged some books, and then the bell rang.

I was not at school today because I had a very important doctor’s appointment. The appointment lasted much of the day and I missed the chance to work in the library. I look forward to working in the library when I return.

Using a special mini-computer, the Aids worked with books that were not on the shelves. We scanned the bar codes on each book. This information when then be read by the computer. It would tell us if the books had been checked out. This is yet one of many cool technology tools that the library has.

Today the Media Aids worked on checking in books behind the counter. The library was very busy because the vision and hearing tests were being conducted in the library itself. The Aids worked behind the counter, using a special scanner which reads the bar code on each book. This information then goes into the computer which shows that the books have been returned.
Today in media aide I catalouged more books, but this time they had different prices and they also had some different genres and some were fiction, unlike the ones i have done before.

Today we put barcodes on books. I renewed my book I checked out and checked a book in. I also put tape on the barcodes so they wouldn’t come off.

Today Matthew and I typed in barcodes for the books, and we also put the barcode on books that didn’t have one. Then after that we taped the barcodes on the books to make sure they didn’t fall off.
9/26/07 today Ethan and put on book labels and taped them so they wouldn’t fall of. But first we had to enter the barcodes. That’s what I did today.
September 26,2007- When I first got to media aide I put fiction books in order. After that I put barcodes onto books, that's all I did in media aide today.
Today 9/26/07 we first waited for Ms.Roof to print out some barcodes for books. As she did that we organized books. Then we put the barcods on some books.
9/26/07
Today the library was very busy again. The monitors for the vision and hearing tests were already taken away and it looks like the tests are over. The computer mice were still there when I arrived but I imagine that they will be gone by tomorrow.
While this was going on, I was busy entering new books into the library system. We do this work in the room behind the front counter. It is a nice sized room with plenty of space to get to work. We received a lot of new books. I was surprised by the number.
My job was to enter the new books into the school library system. That way, the school has a record of each book. Students can then check the books out to read on their own. The new books looked very interesting and I plan to check some of them out over this year to read. I hope that we get more books in the future.
Today we did some hard work. We had to check through a surtain number of books to see if they were in order. But it was fun.
The library was kind of empty today and we were the only ones untill a seventh grade class came. Today I aranged the books in order from 500 to 700. We also had a sub so that was all we did today.

Today we had a sub. We put away books while kids were doing vision and hearing. Then I did this blog.
Today in Media Aide, we had a sub named Mr. Wiliams. There wasn't much to do, since it was Hearing and vision day. We just put some book backs and that was pretty much it.
Today in Media Aid we had a sub named Mr. Williams. We didnt have a class come in because it is vision and hearing but we put books back. It was a really fun Media aid!
September 27, 2007 The subsitute had all of the students check all of the books on the shelves to make sure that they are in the right order either alphabetically or numerically. After that we didn't really do anything we could't check out books because we didn't know the password.
Sept. 27th, 07--
Today Mrs. Roof wasn't here, so we had a substitute teacher. I was assigned a part of the Reference section to check to see if all the books were in the right places. After that, another class came in for hearing/vision screening. While they were doing that, I managed to get all my homework done except for science and this blog thingy. So, all in all, it wasn't so bad today.
Today in Media Aide Allie and I did the announcements but we had some trouble putting the national anthem on becuase Mr.Pearlman wasn't there and also Mrs.Roof was not there either. After we did the annoucements Allie and I ran down the afternoon annoucements to the front office. The substitute was Mr.Williams and when I got back I looked over my shelf, the everybody shelf , and I made sure it was in order. Next I was going to check in some books that kids had dropped off, but the computer wasn't logged on, so i could not do that.

Today we got to magnetize books. It’s hard trying to get them to work though. Eventually we got the hang of it. I used Miss Roofs “magic touch” You swipe the side three times, then you swipe the front three times, then you swipe the back three times! It WORKED!!! It actually worked! It never worked for me. BUT IT WORKED!!!!

Today we got a section of the library books and had to make sure they were in the right order. If they weren’t we had to fix them as well as we could. Then when we were finished we got to do homework or go on the computer.
September 28,2007- Today in media aide I had a substitute. Then the teacher handed me a paper to organize books. I had to check if the books were in the right places. Also in media aide I saw Ms.Dunn's class for the hearing and vision tests.

Today we had a sub for media aid. He was very nice, he didnt know too much about what we did as media aids so Parker and I talked to him about it. We didnt have Mrs. Roofs password for the software to check in and out books so we had to find another way. We figured out to push the icon called destiny. This program allows you to check in the books without logging on to the meadows library. I hope we did the right thing by going onto this program.

Today we cut out book covers and then taped them on to the correct book. We also checked in and out a bounch of books!
Sept 14:
Today we played on the smart board. we made bookmarks. but we didnt get to print them out because the bell rang. too bad, they were really cute.
Sept 18:
We finally got to print out our bookmarks. then we decided to make more designs.
Sept 22:
today we weeded books and put them in a box that will be sent to the district office!
Sept 24:
We used tree glue to fix the spines of books. then we crossed out young reading level age books on the list ms. roof buys the books from.
Sept 28:
Today we had a sub. his name was mr. williams. he was nice. we were going to check in a bunch of books that were in the drop off slot but the computer wasn't logged on. luckily we found a way to check them in. hopefully we did it right!
Friday was an unusual day. Our librarian was not there that day so we worked with a substitute. The substitute, Mr. Williams, had us each check in a few books. After that, Mr. Williams assigned us to a row of books. We were instructed to make sure that the books were on the correct shelves. We do this by checking the letters of the books against the letters on the shelves. There are three different numbers of the book which we use for identification. All the books that I checked were on the correct shelf.
Today we checked in books and updated the magizenes. We also put them up and then blogged. That is all we did today.
Today we put the new magezines in there cases. Then we corrected the powerpoint schedule. It was really fun.
Friday, September 28 in media aid we had a substitute and we searched books we found them then rearranged the books in number order this took a while. Then the sub let us play on the computer the rest of the day,

Today me and chance looked up books to see if they were in order in the reference section. We had a sub today and when we were done we got to go on the computers. We rearranged the books in numerical order. It didn’t take very long to do it.

The screening and hearing test were today, 9, 21, 07 so we mainly looked up books on the computer.

Today me and chance and timothy checked out books for some 8th graders and we also checked out books that we wanted.

Today was a little bit of a different class because Ms. Roof was not at school. We had a sub teacher that was very cool. He had us straighten up the library by giving us a row and we just had to make sure that everything was in place. Afterwards he let us work on homework or play on the computor. This class was very fun.

Today we checked out books and there was also an 8th grade class in the library. We got to watch them do their book reports. It was fun seeing them talk about their books.

Today I am not very happy because I found out that I was not blogging correctly. Thanks to that I have a C. So here I am blogging to try and get my grade up. But I promise I will get from a C to a A.

Today I cut a book cover so we could laminate it. It was fun. I liked putting it through the machine.

Today we magnetized and demagnetized books for the whole period. There was a class that came in when we were doing that. Some of them were checking out books. Me and Chance helped with that.
October 1,2007 Ms. Roof had all of the students in class check in books and magnatize the books and put them through the security system. Then Ms. Roof had us put books away in alphabetical order.
Today in Media Aide, we goofed off for about half the period. After that, we put sticers on books, then we taped them. it was fun, because we pretty much just talked the whole time.
Setember 17- Iforgot to do this day!! In media aide, we put stickers on books telling who donated them.
Thursday 27-We had Mr. Wiliams was our substitute. We didn't know the password to get in to the computer so we just organized books. Since we weren't able to get into the computer weren't able to check books in or out.
Today in class we ortganized books that need to be repaired. We fixed them and put them in the “book hospital”. Then we checked in books.
September 27,-Today in Media Aide, we really didnt do much since Ms.Roof was absent. But of the one thing that we did do, we checked sections that we were assigned to, to check if the books were in alphabetical order. Then we just hung aroud until the bell rang. HAHA. This is what i did in Media Aide today.
October 1- Today in Media Aide, I checked in and magnatized several books as always. Then we cut out overdue notices, and put them in there corresponding techers boxes. This is what i did in media aide today.

Today I spent the whole period making up the blogs I missed. You should remember the right website to go to because my friend, Tim, and I both did the wrong things. Today it was pretty easy. At the end of the period we checked in books for a couple minutes.

Today in Media Aid, me Katie Rottman, and Tom Witten were all writting on the smart board! It was so fun! After that we all put these stickers on the spine of the book! It was really funny because we had a little assembly line! I cut them out, Tom put the stickers on the book, and Katie taped them so they wouldnt come off!
On Friday September 28, in media aid we had a sub. and he told us to go into a certain section of the library and I did but there were people doing A hearing test, so I couldnt. After that we played on the computer.

today i did nothing for half the day but then i had to shelf some books.
Today in media aid, October 2, 2007, Mary and I did the Silent announcements and Hanna and Andy werelooking up books and tiping the stuff in the computer, and after that, Mary was "magnatized" but she was just kidding!

Today we put stickers on the spine of books and put tape over it. I cut so much tape there was a billion pieces left over. We also checked in a couple books and checked if they went off throught the alarm system thingy. We had a pretty good time and I was so glad that Ms. Roof was back because the sub. wasnt very "dialed" in.
Today we played don the smart board. Also my class mates couldn’t figure out how to work it. Then we started to put call numbers on the books. Before the bell rang I tried to write my blog but didn’t finish.
Yesterday in Media Aide I organized the annoucements for the next day and I brought up the
annoucements to the front office for the afternoon annoucements. Then I went on powerpoint and I i entered in the new birthdays for this week and also some of the lunch entrees for this week as well.
Today we put lables on books, then we checked out a bunch of books for all these kids who took to many smelly bookmarks. then i renued my book and put books in order. thhen the bell rang and i left.

Today was another day in which I magnetized books and so forth. I also put more stickers on books without them, so today was OK. I will be gone for all of next week, so I will be in Texas going to water parks and such with family, while you all go to school and do homework.
Yesterday as Media Aide, I worked on checking books back into the library. When I arrived first thing in the morning, there was a huge stack of books waiting to be returned. I was surprised by the amount but eager to get to work. It took the entire period to check in the books. Sadly, we did not get all the books done, but we did get many entered back into the system.
today in media aide I entered books' ISBM code into the computer and I made sure there wasn't anything wrong with them, some of them i had to add new copies an some of the I had to just give a new barcode to. They all had different prices so it was different from what i have done before.
today we made sure that the books were in order,we had a subsetute.

Today we checked in books. There was A LOT!!! Sure we didn’t get them all done, but we got a lot. Our main problem was the beeping thing. Then Ms. Roof taught a different way. It works every time now.

Today we got to take the books of the rack and put them were they go. It was pretty fun. It was a bit challenging because there would be the same number like three times so then I figured out that it had to be alphabetical. I took all the stray books too and put them in the correct spot. Now, as I type Mary and Phoebe are still organizing there books. They have alphabetical, and I had the numbers. I was by my self, but I like being by myself, I get a lot accomplish without being distracted.
September 2,2007- I didn't do so much today. All I did was Checking books in and putting them in order (the nonfiction books).
October 4,2007- Today I looked at the catalogging for books. New books had came in so I catalogged new books that were gifts.

Today Matthew and I weeded books for the new copies and then put the books in a cardboard box.
In addition to what I just said we weeded the old copies for the new one. Then we were done so we read books.

Today i fell asleep while i was supposed to be laminating. So today i did nothing of value.
Today I checked in books and checked them to see if they were magnetized. Then we checked books catalogs and put them in order. Then I asked if I could I could go on the smart board but Mrs. Roof said no. That day was kind of boring.

Today was a half day at school, so today seemed like fovever. Today was also a busy day because there were a lot of books to be checked in. On top of that a class came into the library to check out books this took a very long time. Other than that this class was very fun and now the school day is over.

Today a class came in from the 6th grade. They were acting pretty wild so ms.Roof had to tell them to be quit a couple of times. Me Tim and Chance checked out books for them. There was this whole thing where a kid wanted 5 bananah smelly book marks because he got 5 books. Me and Chance told him he could only take 1 but he took like 8!! Today I got to magnetize a book and test to see if the alarm would go off. Then we put books that had been recently checked out in a b c order it was real fun.
Today we organized books on the shelves. That was it because she was helping in the computer lab.
Today in media aid we put tape over the call number stickers. I also found out that I’m going to do a special show. Also Katie Logan and I played on the smart board. I’m super excited about the show.

Today in media aid we put secrets in books. Then Ms.Roof had to help a class in the computer lab, so we put away books. Than two boys came in and we helped them, even though me and Parker had a very hard time understanding them.

Today we checked in books and Ms.Roof had to work in another room. When we finished that she said we could do whatever we want. Me and Chance went on the computers.
I media aid today we didnt do much. It was really fun though. First me, Tom, and Katie put stickers on the pile of books and taped them. We had a little routine: I cut the tape, I handed it to Katie, and Tom put it on! After we did that we all got to draw on the smart board, followed by coloring these book marks on the smart board to! It was really fun! I think it was the best Mediaq aid yet!

Today Ms. Roof was in a different room, and she told us that when we were done checking in books, we could have some "free time" to get on the computer, or as in my case, get some of next week's homework done. I will be absent all next week, as I am visiting family in New Braunfels, Texas. I actually got all of my Social Studies homework done, and finished most of my Language Arts homework, both for Ms. Wiens.
On Thursday, we had a very busy day in the library. We checked in a few books at the start of the period, which is our ususal practice. Then we had a bunch of books to return to the library so we put them back judging by their call letters. This took most of the period. Finally, we has a short period of time for some fun. I started to load my game to play but then the bell rang.
So this is how it basically worked. there was a substitute, he had no idea what he was doing or where anything was, and we organized our sections of the library and that’s about it.
Wow another day. On Thursday we laminated a few book covers, checked our sections of the library and I got to look at a book, then type the author, title, and publisher for that book and there were about 20 books. That took up just about all of the period then for the little time left that we had we got to do whatever we wanted on the computers.

Today was finally Firday, so I am very happy. Ms. Roof had to help teach a class in the computer lab, so we were on our own. We just had to check in a lot of books so that took a long time. After we got to do just anything, I didn't have any homework so I finally finished reading my book Holes. Before I knew it the bell rang, I then left class with a big smile on my face.
Today in media aid, we checked in books and then Mary and I did the bulletin board. After that we typed in the titles, authors, and publishers of some books that people gave the library. We all had a good day, but I felt bad for Hanna and Andy because they didn’t really do anything in class today.
October 8,07-Today in media aide I organized papers. The papers had overdue books on them. I had cut out a couple of laminated papers. On a power point I typed down Friday,Saturday,Sunday Birthdays.
Today in Media Aide, I magnatized some books as always. Then I laminated a poster, and trimmed it. And then finally, Ms.Roof gave me a box full of OLD, OLD maps from like 1950. Then she told me to trow away all of the "Unuseful" ones, and keep the useful ones. So then I did that through about 150 maps!!! This is what I did in Media Aide today.
Today we talked about soccer and watched Mrs. Roof laminate books. That was all for today.

Todays class went by very fast. When we got in we firsted checked in some books, which did not take a long time. And then we did something diffferent, Ms.Roof had us sort maps into folders. We had to seperate them by state, country, people, seas, and stuff like that. There was a lot of maps to sort but we did it in like 3 minutes. So now here I am blogging early.
In media aid today Tom and I didnt do much. First we checked in some books, and magnitized them. After that we put books on the shelfs. I did refrence, and Tom did fiction. Finally we sorted all of these different types of maps into folders! It sounds boring but I had fun!
Yesterday Abby and I made hallaween book marks! We finally finished cutting and printing them. After we were done whith that we hung up enviormental posters on Ms.Roof's buliton board.

Today we checked books in aswell as magnitized them. We also had one or two kids that wanted to check out. We also arranged fiction books in alphabetical order. We also learned more about catologing and taping barcodes on the books.

Today we checked a couple of books in and a couple of books out. After that we put books back on the shelf. At the end of class we started to sort maps. The maps are pretty weird but cool.

Today in Media Aide I organized all of the posters. I would un-roll them and then figure out a catagory for them and then roll them back up and tie them with a rubberband and then put a sticky note of whatever they were on them. There were a bunch of posters, about four drawers and i only got half of one done with. Today was fun in Media Aide i think.
Oct. 8, 07 Today we didnt do much since Ms. Roof couldn't find the posters.I checked the dispensers for $ but there was none. I renewed some students books.

Today we got to check in books. Then we categorized the books where Mrs. Roof told us to categorize. We also got the old books off the shelf. Then I asked if I could go on the smart board but Mrs. Roof said no.
Today we checked in books and magnitized them. Then I got to Lsminate book covers and Looked at books. Then we just talked to each other.
Today we checked in books but that day there was only 1. Then I had to go to my shelf because Mrs Roof was not there so we ahd asignned shelfs. My shelf was perfect so I got to go on the computer.
Today we began the day as usual by checking in the few books that were in the drop box. Then Ms. Roof had us go behind the counter to the special room and she showed us a huge stack of posters. She asked us to place each poster in a category according to the content of the posters. Then we rolled up each poster, placed a rubber band on each, and filed them away in a drawer. Then about half way through this task, Ms. Roof asked us to help move tables and chairs for the assembly later on that day. It was a busy day.
On Monday we worked on returning books to the library. To return books, students either bring the books to the counter or just drop the books in the return slip in the counter. The books then land in a big bin on wheels which the librarian can pull out and carefully check back in each book. After this, we run each book under a special scanner which enters the book back into the school database. This way the school has a record of all the books that are actually in the library and which books are checked out. Then we magnetize the books, or as I call it, the clicky thingy, and this demagnetizes the books so that if they are carried out without being checked out, an alarm will be set off. Then we run each book by the door to make sure that the magnetizing did indeed work. Then the books are placed in a pile and another group of media aides reshelves them.
We sigled out web paged on a meadows sit that dont work. I think we did that so it would be easer for students.
Today we had to look up web sites. We had to check if they still contained the right imformation. I had to right down alot of websites.
Today in media aid Logan and I checked in acouple of books. We also looked at the website and clicked on every single link to see if they were still active sites. I also wrote this blog. There were so many websites it wasn't funny.
Today in Media aid Tom and I looked on ms. Roof's page for websites that werent up and running. All we had to do was write down those websites! It was really easy! I had fun. Also tom checked in some books and I magnitized them.
I am writting this because we want to make Ms. Roof happy because were doing extra blogging

Today we got to work on the computor. Ms. Roof had us check refrense sites for different topics. For me it took FOREVER! but I finally got it done and now I am blogging early again. On top of that I do not have any homework, so far. This was a good class and a good week.
