This year, you will write at least one paragraph every night that you had a Library Media Aide class during the day. The purpose for this assignment is to strengthen your descriptive writing skills and provide a record for yourself, your parents and for me about what you do each day during this class. I prefer 3 paragraphs of well-written, correctly spelled descriptive record of what you did during your Library Media Aide class. This blog participation is one rubric for this class. The more that you write the higher your grade will be in the class.

After that, we laminated book covers, creased them so they would fit the book, and then taped them to the book. We really didn't get to do much today because it was a TCT day.

Today in media aide I was looking for missing books. When I was I found 2 books that weren't missing.
Today Mrs.Ruth had us first, go to the back room and find diffrent versions of articles. Then some kids got to type some of the all day anouncements the are displayed on the T.V. We had a fun class so it seemed short.
Today in media aid we were orginizing catologs in the back room. Me and Tim got to switch off using the computer typing the birthdays. When we were orginizing the catologs me and Chance got a drink and the drinking fountain shot water across the room. It was pretty funny.
Today was another busy day in the library. Our job was to check piles of books to make sure that they had stamps in them. The stamps show which school the book belongs to, like "Meadows" or "Madison Meadows School". Most of the books had the right stamp in them, but some had no stamp at all. For many books, I put additional stamps in them.
We had a long weekend so there were a lot of books to check back into the library. I spent most of the morning trying to get through as many books as possible. The good thing is that it shows that a lot of people are reading the books but it does make for a lot of work. I also worked on late slips. If a book is not returned to the library by the due date, the library sends out a note to the student to remind them that they have to return the book or pay for the book. The slip tells them when the book was due, the call number for the book and the amount that they owe in late fees. The late fee depends on the book. Some books have a higher late fee than others. One student owed $100.00 in late fees!
On October 22nd, I worked on creating and sending out overdue notices. This time of year there are a ton of books that have not been returned to the library on time. My job is to remind the students through these little notices on quarter sheets of paper. The notices are put in alphabetical order according to the homeroom teacher's name. Then we put it in the homeroom teacher's mailbox. It is a lot of work for everyone involved but it needs to be done because so many books are missing from the library.
Today we cataloged books. some of them didn't have isbn numbers so i learned to find them a different. We did that about the whole class.
On November 1st, I typed bar codes. We entered the bar codes into the computer. That way, when the book is scanned, the computer can recognize the bar code and know what book it is for. This makes checking the books in and out of the library much quicker.
Today we gave some copies to some teachers. Then we typed some stuff on powerpoint. Then we magnetized books.
Today we had a lot of work to do. We organized books, scanned them, and blogged. That is all we did today.
Today in media aide, I wasn't there. I went on a peer tutor field trip. It was pretty fun,but I missed media aide.
November 8, 2007 - Today in class I catalouged several book series. It was pretty easy since i have done it before, but now instead of making the fund the PTM, it is the Pencil fund and also the prices are different for each day.

Today was an okay day. I magnetized some books, as usual. Ms. Roof had to leave while I was doing Powerpoint, and thankfully her leaving did not lead to a total disaster.
Today Ms.Roof let me use a 1 trillion dollar mini computer. I'm only kiding it was a thousand dollars. She didn't trust Chance with it. Then me and Chance went into the back room and typed in call numbers of books in to the computer.

Today's class was a great one, because we got to see a new piece of technology. Ms. Roof showed us a little hand held device that actually checked in books. We all got to use it and it worked really good too. Then Ms. Roof had us put the ID number of the books into the computor to help know which book was which. This was very fun and we did it quickly. And before I knew it the bell rang.
Today in media aid, Monday November 6th we checked in books to the library. After that we stamped books. A couple books were torn, so we fixed them. After that we laminated some books. Lastly we blogged, except I didnt have time to blog.
Today in media aid, November 8th, we checked in books. After that we had some kids come in and they checked some books out. Lastley I took the cool hanheld divise( I forgot what it was called) and beeped all of the book for our country reports.

To day in media we put books away and we checked in books. Then we put up books so kids that were doing a special report could use them. Then I blogged and that is what I am doing right now. We also used a hand held scanner to scan cataloged books.
In media aide today we did our first ritual that is almost always there to do… check in the books in the check-in cart, magnetizing them, and making sure they go off. Next was my least favorite job, filing the publishers’ catalogs and getting rid of the old ones. I never really liked that responsibility for you can never really tell where you are in the alphabet. Suddenly the tables turned and I got one of my favorites using the handheld scanner and checking in the books on the cart that are used for the 6th grade country reports, but there is a downside to everything and for this it was that it really makes your wrist hurt. Now is my blogging and that’s the end of todays media aide class.

Today in media aide I checked out a book for social studies. Then Ms.Roof had me straighten out books that were all messed up and not in the right places.
November 8, 2007 today in media aide Rachel, Jenna, and I put away books in numerical order. And we also checked in and out some books.
In media aid today Abby and I scaned ALOT of books using the handheld scaner. We needed to scan the books because they were books used in the libary that have not been checked out in a long time. We also cataologed one book because Ms. Roof had to help this one kid.

Today everyone was messing around so it was really fun. We also did what we were supposed to be doing at the same time. Multitasking, oh yeah. It was funny when Chance got a dring and the water fountain sprayed all over the room.
Today we had a sub so we knew we would not have that much to do. We had to check are assined rows and put some books away. That is all we had to do.
Today we went to our section and made sure our books were in order. Then we put some books on the shelf. Then we helped some kids check out books.

Today in media aid Tom, Katie, and I had a sub. We didn't do much today but put books away. Tom and Katie were putting books away in the refrence section and I was in the fiction. It seemed like a pretty short class.

Today there was a sub, so all I did was check my area. I also started typing this blog. I injured my finger Saturday, and I had to get stitches, so I do things mostly with my weak left hand.

Today we really did not do anything that we usually do, because Mrs. Roof was not at school. So we had a substitute teacher. What we did was check in and shelve books, and then the sub had us check the library to make sure that all of the books were in order. And now I am blogging early again!
Today we had a sub. We put back books. We also copied papers in the office.
Today in Media Aide, we really didnt do anything at all, because the 6th and 8th graders are going on a field trip. So we checked in a little books, and waited to be called to the buses. This is what I did in Media Aide today.
November 13, 2007 In media aide class we checked in a few books and put them through the security system. We didn't really do a lot of things. We all had to leave early for a field trip.
November 15, 2007 Today a class came in to look at books for a project. There were a couple of books to check in. Another thing we looked at the shelves to see if the books were in order and if they weren't we put them in order.

Today in class Mr.Williams substituted in our class. Today we also had a feild trip to go to so our class period was cut short. So we checked books in.

Today we checked our sections to make sure that the books are in the right order. Then we put some books back on the shelves. Then we helped some kids check out some books.
Today we had another sub. He needed some help so we checked the shelf and that was what we do with subs. That is all we did today.
Today Mr.Williams was our sub. Ms. Sweeny's class was in here. We didn't do very much. We checked in acouple of books then i blogged.
Today in Media Aide we checked a couple books in, and then we checkd a couple out. After that, we pretended to do the announcments. It was a pretty fun day today.

Today was another class where we really did not do anything. It was because Ms. Roof was not at school today. What we did was there were a lot of books to check in, so we did that and then we checked in books for other kids and we were done. What a class!

Today in Media Aide, we again did not do much. Ms.Roof was gone again, and we had a substitute. So we actually did not have any books to check in, and we sat around and played on the computer! This is what I did in Media Aide today.
11/15/07- We had a substitute today, because Ms. Roof wasn't here. Today I put books in alphabetical order and then put the books where they belong. After that I sraightened out some books that were messy on bookshelves.
Today Matthew and I organized books in the fiction section. Then after that we helped carry books out of Ms. Roofs car then we brought them back to the library. Then we bloged and then we read books and went on the internet.
Today Ethan and I organized books in the fiction section. After that we helped Ms.Rolph and I carried books to the library. Then she let us blog. That is what we did today.

Alyssa, Jenna, and I put books in numerical order. Then we checked in some books. It was sooo boring. None of us were that good at it and there were like a million books.
on november 13, we checked in a few books. Then we made sure they went off after we magnetized them. We talked to mr. williams who was our sub and then went to see a play at slope.
On november 6, we checked in a lot of books. Then we magnetized them. Then we put some books away. Lastly we stamed the books which was.."lots and lots and loads and loads of fuuuuunn..." in alyssa and I's words.
Today in media aid, November 14, 2007 we had a sub. We started by organizing the country books on the cart, and it looked alot better! After that we took a couple of books and put them where they were supposed to be. I was going to go on the computer and blog after that except I idnt have much time, so I just waited for the bell to ring.
Today in media aid 11-16-07 we started by checking in some books. After that we printed some papers of people who had over do books that they needed to to return. After that we organized those paper by teachers names and then we stuck them in their mailboxes.
Today we had to scan all the number books. We took turns because there was a ton. So that was all she assianed for us to do today.

Today I got to put more tree glue in some books. I was careful not to put too much or too little on. After that, I put magnetic strips in some books. I got my stitches out at 4:30pm, and it looks kind of weird.
Today in class we checked books in as well as renewed books. There was also a class that came in for their country research. Lastly, we stamped books for the remainder of the class.
Today in Media Aide, we first checked in books, magnatized them, and ran them through the scanner as usual. Then I went into the back room when Mrs. Weins class came in and cataloged books the whole time. This is what I did in Media Aide today.
Today in Media Aide Tom and I checked in 3 books each. Then, I catalogged a book about civil war forts. Then, Tom started using the portable scanner to check in country books. He then showed me how to use it. It was so cool!!! I loved typing numbers in with the little pen. When we were all done, me and Logan were goofing around, and we were doing the announcments- silly style. Tom was are cameraman. It was so funny!!!!

Today we were back on schedule because Ms. Roof was back. What we did today was first check in books and then Ms. Roof had us file away a little bit of the books.Than what we did next was very fun. Ms. Roof had us put magnitized strips in books. This meant sticking a little metal strip in the books to make sure that they would get magnitized. There were a lot of books we had to do so this took us through the whole class. Now I just have to worry about one more day until THANKSGIVING WEEKEND.
yesterday we put some books in a group of christmas,kwanzaa,hanakuh. Then the pear tutors came in and worked "quietly".Last we put the secrets in some books

Today was definetly one of my favorite days in media aide i have had in a while.As always we started with our first afternoon ritual, checking in the books in the check-in cart, magnetizing them, then making sure they go off. The next thing was fun enough, better than a lot of the responsibilities, putting stickers on the covers and spines of the books then tape on top of those. But next, next comes the good part. Mr.Shipkin walks in and asks Ms.Roof to put in his movie for the class, which just happened to be "The Ant Bully" which is actually a pretty good movie. Anyway we got to watch it for the rest of the period. That day something miraculous happened, Andy and Kristi didn't fight and neither did Andy and Mary although we (being Andy and I) had a fight over the scissors which didn't last long after i yanked them from his hand. Over all though it was a great day!
Today in media aid Abby and I got to stay two periods it was really fun. In the 1st period we scaned books with the hand held scanner. That period we really didnt do anything. The next period we taped book covers to about 8 books so the book covers would not fall off.

Today I put the plastic covers on books. It had been so long since I did it last, I couldn't remember how to do it. Tomorrow is my 11th birthday, so I am excited about that.

Today Katie and I were putting the titles of some old books on a word document. We switched of. First Katie was the one that was saying the titles of the book to me and I was the one typing all of it. I have no idea what Tom was doing!
On November 9th, 2007 I worked in the library again. My job was to scan the books back into the system. By this I take all of the books that are in the return bin, scan them, and set them aside to be reshelved. The scanner reads the barcode on each book and sends a message to the librarian's computer to inform her of what books have been returned and when they were returned.

It is finally starting to feel like November because the weather is getting a lot cooler. Today we first checked in books which did not take that long,and then what we did next was really hard for me. Ms. Roof then had us cover the books, this meant using graph paper to actually cover the books. I know I did this once before but I could not do it right, but Ms. Roof was there to help me so I finally got it. Now I just need to practice it more!
On November 9th, 2007 I worked in the library again. My job on this day was to scan the books. In doing this, I take the books in the return bin, scan the computer scanner across the barcode on the book and set the books aside to be reshelved. The information that is scanned then goes to the librarian's computer and she can see which books have been returned and when they were returned.
On November 14th, 2007 I checked the shelves. My job is to take an assigned section of the library and go through each book on each shelf to make sure that the books are in their correct spot. For example, if a book has a call letter of "P" but it is on a "B" shelf, I would take that book and reshelve it to its correct location. I did not find many books that needed reshelving today.
On November 16th, 2007 I repaired books. My job is to make sure that the bar codes on the top right hand corner of each book is not faded or torn. Because the bar code is our main tool for organizing the books, it is very important that the bar code is in good condition.
Oops. I made a mistake. On November 20th, I repaired the barcodes. On November 16th, I repaired the books by On November 16th, 2007 I repaired books. My job was to take books with print errors and fix the books. We cut out the missing pages from one book, copy the missing pages and taped and glued the missing pages into the books. That way we did not have to throw out any of the books. Instead we fixed them and made them usable for all of the students.
Today in Media Aide I magnatized a few books, then went and cataloged for the rest of the period. P.S. i cataloged this awesome book that had grass as the cover! This is what I did in Media Aide today.
Today in the library was kind of fun. First we cut the extra lamenat of of some book covers. Then we folded some book covers and put them on the books.

Today I taped the covers to the books. It was easy but a little bit hard because it was really sticky. I also checked out a kid. When she left I checked in books and that was easy. In ½ I re-wrote my paragraph and that was it!

November 27,2007- Today in media aide I had to cut out laminated posters and book covers. Then I had to fold the creases from the laminated book covers onto their right book titles.
Yesterday, in Media Aide, we checked books in as well as renewed books. Yesterday, we also worked on overdues. Lastly, we placed the overdue notices in to their teacher's cubby.
yesterday we put covers on the books. my Internet wasn't connected. So I couldn't blog yesterday.
In media aid today Abby and I first put dewy decimal stickers on alot of books. We also put a genar sticker of the book, we had to put clear duck tape over all the stickers so they won't fall off!

Today in media aid Tom, Katie, and I had to put tape on a reference sticker alredy on the book. We were doing that when Ms. Roof was giving a lecture to the class that came in. After she was done the class checked out books. They all waited till the bell rang to do it so we were a little late to our class. It was ok though because my teacher didn't care!

Today's class went by fast and I am not sure why. We first checked in books which there were very little of, so it did not take very long. Then Ms. Roof had us put the label stckers on a LOAD of books. This meant puting the genre stickers, the the call number stickers, and just making sure all of the books were taped correctly. This was fun and it went by really fast, so I guess thats why this class went by so fast.
Today in media aid we checkd in books. Then we did our shelves because Mrs. Roof was not there today. Then since our shelves were done we played on the computers.
Today we checked in books. Then II was the one who checked if they were magnetized or not. I have found out that I have got a special way to check books where it always works. Then we laminated book covers
Today we checked in books. I found out that my way of checking books is also a way to find out if the books don’t have stips in them. Then we taped the labels on the books. Today was a day of discovoer.
Today we checked in books. My discovery was a hit with Kristy. She got so frustrated when she found out it worked that she tried to find a special way to check books to. She found out that it was harder than she thought. Then we repaired books in the book hospital. The rest of the day we watched Ant Boy.
Today we checked in books. Then for the third time in two weeks my discovery of the new way to check books was unstoppable! Kristy acutely wanted to learn but a magician always keeps her secrets. Then I got to laminate books(my favorite job) and cut them out(my least favorite job) and hen we left.
Today in Media Aide, a class came in. We checked out some books for them, and then I checked one out for me. It was kind of funny, though, because after the bell rang,all the stundents ran up to the computer to check out their books. It took us about 3 minutes to do them all, but luckily we didn't get in trouble for being late. Well, that's about it!!!!:)
Today all me and Matthew did was pretty much nothing. The only things we did was magnetize five books and checked them in. Then after that we just hung out for the rest of the time there.

Today we did the normal routine once again and it's getting boring talking about it. So moving on... We started by going into the teacher resource room to pick up some books to rebarcode sticker them is i guess what you would call it. There was a class in the library when we walked in. At first we just sat there (forever)doing nothing. Ms. Roof finally came over and told us what to do. I filed some magazines away. (borringgg)and then alyssa came in and i told her to help me and right when she was trying to put a magazine away she cut herself. haha it was hilarious but then i felt bad. sorry alyssa.

We checked in books and then we magnetized them. Then jenna and I did overdue notices. for everyones information their were 86 pages. Then we had to cut them in half. That equals 172 overdues. I think. Well whatever it was it took forever and then we put them into the teacher's box.

came in, watched the announcements, then checked in some new and old magazines and put stickers on them , then placed the newer ones onto the shelves in back corner.

Today we have a substitute and first I came in and watched the annoucfcements, then I showed the sub how to check people's books out, then i looked over my section, and now I am blogging.

Today we checked our shelves to make sure if everything was in order. We also checked in some books and then magnetized them. Then the sub gave us time to do our homework(blogging).
November 30, 2007 In media aide my class put away some books and checked some books to make sure that they are in the right places.
Today in Media Aide, we had a substitute because Ms.Roof was not here to teach. So we checked our assigned shelves to make sure they were in order, and then Ms.VanCott let us blog. This is what I did in Media Aide today.
Today in the library, we checked our shelves and made sure that the books were all in order. Also, we checked books and then magnitized them. After we were done with that, we were given time to complete our blogging.
11/28/07 In the library, we checked books in and then after magnitized them. There was a class that came in so we also checked books out. Lastly, I found a good way of stamping the book marks that are hard to stamp.
Today we had a sub in class. So we just had to organize our shelves. That was all we had to do.

Today we put stickers on the spines of the books and taped them down. Then a class came in. MY job was to help kids find books
today we had a sub. We put a few books away then we blogged i still have most of class but I did my job.
Today in Medaia aide we had a sub. We didn't do that much. Tom and I have the reference shelf, but there were no books on there that needed to be put away. They were all country books. After that we helped Logan put her books away, we blogged, and the that was pretty much it.

Today it rained a lot. I just got back from the 6th grade IMAX fieldtrip. We had a substitute teacher today, so I checked my area and blogged.

This is one of the best fridays that I have had at meadows. It is a rainy day and on top of that the sixth grade went on a field trip to the IMAX Theater at Arizona Mills. It was a great trip and it was fun. Anyways, today Ms. Roof was not at school so we had a substitute teacher. She had us just oranize our shelves to make sure that they were in order. And now we get to blog early, what a great friday.

Today in media aid we straightened the books and went to the office to help Ms. Lynn! We had a very mellow day but it was still fun!
Today we had a sub. We made sure that all the books are in the right spot. Then we asked if the front office needed any help. We also helped someone put a video in the machine.

Today in media aid we checked if our shelves were organized. Then we had to put in a video for kids in another class could watch. Now we get to blog.
Today Matthew and I did separate things instead of working together. I scanned some of the books on the shelves with the Hand Held Scanner. Then Matthew helped Ms. Roof with something.
today i had a horrible time. i was trying on the ram head and **** pushed me so i couldent see and i hit my kidnet on a corner of a shelf.

the ram head smelled like old cheese. how do you people stand it!!!!!
Before Abby and I went to the media center we had to go to the nurse so we showed up a couple minutes late. When we got there we put away about 7-10 books (personally I stink at it!) Then Ms.Roof said we could blog.

December 3,2007- Today in media aide I assorted out late due book papers. Then I read a book after that. Finally I had to type out for Ms.Roof and they were pencil funds receipts.
Today the previous class had done everything. So we were able to have a free day. That is all we did today.
Today we didnt have to do anything. Because the other kids finished it all. So I did my homework. Mrs. Roof is the nicest teacher.
Today we didnt do very much. two kids were in here and they were looking for books then they left. We put a few books away and scanned some other books.
Today we didn't do much. We checked in some books, and then used the cool scanner thing. Then we blogged and that was about it. It was pretty fun because we got to talk and goof around. (Sort of) Mrs. Roof is a cool teacher.
Today we didnt do much. First we put some books and back in the appropiate place. After that we all scanned some books with the cool scanner. I am blogging right now. It wasnt a hard day at all.
Today we put tape over the labels. I also helped my friend Leslie and Cindy check in their books. Then we put books on display for other people to look at. Hayley was absent today!! We had alot of fun!

Today One of our girl classmates was not at school so it was just the boys. When we got to class there were a lot of books to be checked in so we did that which did not take that long. Then since we did not finish last week Ms. Roof had us finish labeling the books with the genre stickers and the ID number stickers. We did this through the whole class period and still did not finish it yet. So I have feeling we are going to do the samething next time
12/5/07 Today was a very short day. We did not do much. Today we checked out books for some kids in Ms.Whitney.
11/5/07 Today we checked if the pheonix public library has books that we need to order. Then we looked and saw wether or not they had it in e-book.
11/7/07- Today we had a bunch of books that were lost. we went around and tryed to find them. we found a cuple.
11/7/07- I watched a class write descriptions about the 6 traits of writing. I also found lost books that were needed to be found.
11/9/07- today we checked out books to kids.
11/14/07 Today we checked the shelfs for books that were out of place.
11/16/07- I put books in alphabetical order. After that I had to repair books together. After that I blogged in media aide.

Today I magnitized books and checked to make sure they were magnitized correctly. When I was done I talked to Mrs. Eslava,my brothers best friends mom!
11/5/07 today Ethan and I went to the office because there was a note on the door. So when we got there she didn’t have anything for us to do. So Mr. Pazack said that we could help him and organize sports equipment. So that’s what Ethan and I did today.

Today Matthew and I couldn’t go in the office because there were tests going on. So we went to the office and helped Mr. Passak bring basketballs to the gym. Then when we got their we pumped them up and then went back to the office to hang out and eat candy.

Today Matthew and I looked for lowest books in the library. We didn’t find many, but I found a couple in the Spanish section. Then after that we had free time.
11/9/07 today Ethan and I cataloged books. We came into class and we saw her at the counter. So then we cataloged books. That’s what Ethan and I did today.

Today what Matthew and I did was checked shelves. I checked the fiction section while Matthew checked the decimal section. Then after I finished my section I went to help Matthew with his section.

In media aid 12/3/07 we started out by checking in books. After that we went into the storage room and found the ramms suite and we tried on the helmet thing. After that Andy taught Mary how to play a game. Then Andy hit the side of the table and hurt his back. Lastly Mary and I weeded books, while Andy hurt silly Mary!
on 10/22 we checked our sections of the library and that was about it.
Today on the 10/22/07 we first checked in books. then we checked them in the beeper and today they went off with a breeze.
Then we pput stickers on the books.

Today we did the strenous job of checking our sections. That took me about 30 seconds. Then we got to play games on the computer.
