This year, you will write at least one paragraph every night that you had a Library Media Aide class during the day. The purpose for this assignment is to strengthen your descriptive writing skills and provide a record for yourself, your parents and for me about what you do each day during this class. I prefer 3 paragraphs of well-written, correctly spelled descriptive record of what you did during your Library Media Aide class. This blog participation is one rubric for this class. The more that you write the higher your grade will be in the class.

Today on 11/1/07 we checked in books and then we checked if they were magnatized. Then a 8th class came in and the checked out books. It was kind of hard but I got through it.
on november 5 AEP testing was going on in the Media Center so we had to stay in the back room and temp the new books that are going into the library catalog thingy mabob.
Today on 11/5/07 there was aep testing so our routine was weirder. Andy kept screaming that he was board evern though we had to be queit. The rest of that day we did quit jobs and even locked andy out of the door.
on november 7th we stmaped books and that's all well i guess so...
Today it is 12/3/07 we checked in books. then we check if nthe would go off in the scanner. We went into storage and got these old books. We had to weed those book and it was very hard. Andy, Kristi, and I were weeding the books went she pushed andy and he hurt himself. Then They hurt me.
on 11/14 we orginized the country books!
12/5/07-Today in media aide I really didn't do much. What I did was put something over a book. Then I had to finish up blogging dates that I have not done.
11/20/07-In media aide I didn't really do much but I did material barcodes. That's all I did.
11/27/07- I had cut out laminated covers. Then I had to increase the lines down so they can fit onto the books good, since their bookcovers.
11/29/07- Today in media aide I shelved books. I first had to make sure that the books were in order so that it would make it easier for me to put them in the right shelves. After that Ms.Roof had me straighten out books so that way books are easier to find and also look nice.

we checked in books and then magnetized them. Ms. Wiens's boys were in the library for a little and I joked around with them. haha long story. Alyssa and I put some books back on the shelf and then I updated some books on the computer. Oh and then JENNA STOLE MY CHAIR. ://
yesterday 11/5 we got there and asked ms.roof what we were going to do that day and so she smiled and said "today i'm going to print out grades so that you can blog and catch up" yeah but my grades were being wierd i had a "b" as my overall grade but in my daily grades i had 6 F's and all the rest were some sort of "a" so i caught up almost i just have one more blog to do.

I came into the library and i watched Ellie and Jack film the announcements.. then I cataloged books for the rest of the period. I did many books that had various funding sources, vendors, and prices.

Today I came in and watched the annoucements and then i got the little scanner machine and scanned in a ton of books that were on the bookcart. Some of the labels were really old and so i had to type the barcode into the scanner.
Today in Media Aide, we checked in and magnatized books as usual, then we put some books back on their appropriate shelves. Finally, Ms.Roof gtave us a free day! This is what I did in Media Aide today.
Today again the class before us finnished all the work. So we are going to have another free day. I hop that this keeps happening.
Today Ms roof let me do my homework. Then I got to study my poem that I have to recite today. All because Ms roof is the best teacher.
Today in media aid Tom and I worked on the powerpoints for the lunch menu. Katie had to do some other things. After Tom and I were done Katie got to scan the books with the cool scanner thing. Right now I am blogging.
Today i changed the slideshow. I had to change the lunch schedule and birthdays.Then i blogged.

Today we did not do anything all class long. We just checked in a few books and then Ms. Roof let us play on the computer. What a class!

Today, there were barely any books to check in. Ms. Roof had me delete a lot of extra slides on the announcement thing, but it only took me a minute or two to do it, because I figured out that if you click on the slide and press the delete button, it saves a lot of time. I wasn't here last time because I was sick.

Today mrs.Roof gave us sheets that said what blogs we have not done. So we got to go on the computer and fix them so we dont get a bad grade. Haley wasn't here AGAIN!!

In media aid on Wednesday Abby was not there so I was the only one in class. When I first got there I had to check ALOT of books in the thing on the way out to make sure they went off. Not all of them went off so I had to go slide them on the scanner thing, and go re-test the books that did not go off.So i had to put a strip in the books that did not. After I was done with that a little group of kids came in with tons of books to check in and out so i had to do that. It was alot of work in media aid on 11-5-07 when Abby was not there!

On November 5th 2007, we started out by checking in books, except students were aep testing so we couldnt make SURE they were magnatized. After that we had to stay in the back room. While we were in the back room, we temped the new books that are going into the library thing.
Today in media aid 11/1/07 we started out by checking in books. After that we magnetized them and made sure they went off. We had to hurry before the 8th grade class came in. After that we checked in books to them.
Today in media aid 12/5/07 we started out by checking in books. After that Mrs.Roof gave us our grades., so we could catch up on our blogging. I only had some to catch up on, and I didnt feel like doing that, so...I put a couple books away.
Today in Media Aide, I printed out some new barcode labels, put them on books, and then taped new little spine labels on the books. While I was doing this all by myself, Tom and Logan did the announcments slideshow. Then, when I was done, I got to use the little portable scanner. It was so cool!!!! It bwas really annoying, though, because all these kids put a bunch of books on the shelves I had just scanned. It was kind of funny, though, because I kept asking them to give them to me so I could scan them, but they didn't and I couldn't keep track of the new ones though, so I had to start over. I was lucky, however because just then, the bell rang!!! Saved by the bell!!!!
Sorry Mrs. Roof!!!! Rottman Report is me, Katie!!!!! My mom staryted a blog on google, and now the computer thinks i'm her!!!! Funny Stuff!!!
Today Matthew and I scanned books for Ms.Roof in the decimal section. Then when we were finished she let us blog. Then I left to go to my other class.
2/7/07 today Ethan and I checked and scanned books. We took the scanner and checked in books. Then she let us blog. Then I left.
When Abby and I first got to media aid today we had to scan about 40 books, to give them a popularity points for being used in the library but just not checked out. After we were done with that (which took a long time) we got to make our holiday book marks.

We checked in and shelved some books. then we sat there for a minute and ms. roof gave us a free day and alyssa and i had fun! :]
Today we had to add new books to the system. You had to scan it then you had to find out how much it costed. Then we saved the copies.

Today in media aid all I did was put strips in a pile of books. After I was almost done with that Tom came in to help me. Katie was catologing books the whole time.
Today in Media Aide, I catalogged books. Logan wqas right next to me, putting metal strips in books. Tom was up on the computer up front. I think he was checking some books to see if they were in the system. Well, that's pretty much it!!!! :):):):):):)

Today was a normal day in Media Aide. I checked in books, and then put magnetic strips in books. Then I laminated the dust jackets for hardcover books.

Today in the Media Center I did many things. First I came in and watched Kelley and Jack do the announcements, but then there was no audio… so they went and had to do it over the intercom. While they were doing that me and Alex tried to test the systems sound and figure out what was wrong with it. The next things that I did was help Mrs. Roof get two boxes of new books from her car and take them back into the library. We used a large book cart for this. Once we had gotten the books, I catalogued a few up until the bell rang

Today in media aide we were working the whole time, not to say anything mean though. Anyways, we first checked in a few books, which did not take that long. Then Ms. Roof had two of us put magnitizing stickers in the books and two of us put ID labels on the books. I put the magnitizing stickers in the books. So we did that for a while then we took all of the book covers off of the books.The fun part was that we got to laminate them. Yes, this was a busy class but it was fun.
Today Matthew and I put labels on books and then taped them. Then we threw the scraps away and organized the books. Then I blogged, then left.

Today we started the day like every other day with checking in books. Then once we were done with that, Ms. Roof had us lamenate soft cover books. We did not lamenate them the way we lamenate pieces of paper, the book would be unusable. We used something that looks like a big sticker that when you take the back off it is clear. This helps preserve the book and and prolong its shelf life :).

Today we started the day with the usual checking in the books that were in the drop box. The spelling bee was held in the library today. This event was brodadcast throughout the school. We did not get much work done, because if we tried it would have distracted the contestants.

Today we started the day with the usual checking in the books that were in the drop box. Then we worked on book overdue notices. These are friendly little reminders to the kids to return the book. The school must make a lot of money off of late fees on books. Once I saw a kid owe 100 dollars! I doubt that it cost the school 100 dollars for those two or three books. Let's just hope they were realy good books!

Today we started the day as usual with the checking in the books that were in the drop box. Then we moved on to scanning the books. We did this by using a special handheld scanner. This can tell how much use a book is getting. If a book is not being used, there is no reason to have it in the library and it is removed.

Today we started the day with the usual checking in the books that were in the drop box. After that was done, we moved on to covering books with a clear plastic coating. This will make the books last longer. That way, the school will not need new books as often. We only cover the soft cover books with plastic.
Today in the library was very interesting. We got onto gmail so we looked at wikia. Ms roof showed us how to use wikia. Then we taped books.

Today when we got to class we first checked in a few books that did not take long. Then Ms. Roof split us into groups and had us either put caller ID stickers on books, put tape on the books, or check in books with the super computer. I was the one to put tape on books which did not take very long. Now we get to blog early.

Today in Media Aide, we put some new barcode labels on books. After that, we put the spine labels on them. It's really hard to get the sticky back off of those!!!!! It was pretty fun, because once we were done, we looked at the Guiness World Record book!!!!

Today Karylyn wasn't here today so it was me Tim and Chance. WE put magnitize and genera stickers on books. We also checked in some books which took about 5 minutes. We didn't finish putting the stickers on so we might do it next time.
12/13/07- Ms. Roof showed me how to go on our gmail for wiki's. Then I put book labels onto books for the rest of the period in media aide.
11/16/07- I didn't really do alot in media aide today but I repaired books together. After that I straightened out some bookshelves while I was waiting for media aide to be over.

Today we moved a bunch of chairs. i also moved soem tables so that the 8th graders could sit down and watch a movie thing. Michelle was absent.

Today I renewed two kids books. I also helped Nick move tables. Michelle was absent so he did nothing but it wasn't any different from any other day because he usually does nothing anyway!
In media aid today Abby and I got to print the rest of our bookmarks! They turned out really cute!!!!(: After we were done with that we magnitized the books and checked them in the security thing on the way out.

Today in Media Aide, Savannah and I finally were able to print out our holiday bookmarks! They turned out really cute! Then, I checked in and magnetized quite a few books. Then, Savannah ran them through the security thing that is located by the door when you leave the library! Then we blogged.

12/13/07- Today in media aide I finished up blogging for the days that I missed from media aide. Since Ms.Roof had bought new books for the library I stamped the books and on the books it says Madison Meadows on the books now. Ms.Roof bought 3 series of books I don't know what the other book is called but one of them are biographies from the High School Musical cast and that's pretty much all I did today.
December 12, 2007 Rachel and I looked at some over due books. We highlighted the papers and put them into the students teachers cubbies.
December 6, 2007 We checked in a couple of books and didn't have a lot to do. So me and Rachel played on the smart board, since we had nothing else to do.

Today in meida aid I was the first one here so I checked some books in and then waited for Tom and Katie to arrive. When they showed up we all entered barcode numbers into the computer. These were all new books.
Today all three of us worked together. We entered in barcodes to make labels. Then we blogged.

A couple days ago in media aid Tom, Katie, and I all put tape on barcode stickers on a big pile of books. After that we were looking at this really cool book.
Today I checked to make sure that books were in the syastem. After i finished i put magnetic strips in books. After that we looked at a world record book then the bell rang.

Today was a different class for me because I was not at school. I was at ASU watching my mom graduate to become a teacher. I was so happy for her, after all this work it finally paid off for her. Now we are going to have a party for her at my house. That explains why I am blogging at 10:00 at night.

Chance went to use the Super Computer and check in country books. Tim wasn't here today so it was a little weird. Tim is allways there so thats why. He was watching his mom graduate at ASU to become a teacher!! I bet it was pretty exciting for him

Today we came in and we were before the first bell rang. Hooray. First we checked in a few books as usual. Then we were seeing how you could steel books by getting through the detecter. Then we went to one of the tables and went through the whole laminating process. The only bad thing was... we didn't get to actually laminate them. We didn't finish. I'm excited for after school because we are going to get a new ping pong table. I like ping pong. Bye. Have a nice day.

class was wigidy wigidy wack because we had to cover books with graph paper which is really hard. i dont know how far back i didnt blog but i am gonns stop here for tonight so i can eat ice cream, because my mom said i could have some CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM if i finished my blogs. Tommorow will be last day at school until winter break because i am bloging on 12/18/07. i get to go to Michigan(go wolverines!). then i go to Colorodo with friends. Michigan is goingg to be cool because the college just got a new football coach after there horrible season ehen they lost to Appalachin State. the new coach is the coach for the west virginia mountaineres this year. i cant wait because i wot be here for media aid Thursday so i get to write "Absent" and say what i am doing or something. Today in Media Aide, Savannah and I got to stay for 2 periods (again). The first period, we got to finish decorating out bulliton board. It turned out really good!the final touches on the bulliton board and deocrated the library with holiday snowflakes and other stuff. Then, we blogged!
In Media Aide today Abby and I got to stay for 2 periods. In the 1st period we got to finish making the bulliton board, about sports. It turned out very cute! Today we played a game of hide n go seek. Everyone knew where i was hiding however they just didn't want to make me feel bad so they just acted like they couldn't find me. Then i went on a weird horse website called howrse.com which in it you make your own cyber horse that you have to take care of. It was weird.

On tuesday in media aide we attached spine lables to the back of new or old books. Also, I placed tape over the barcodes (my favorite part). Lastly, we checked books in.

Today when we first got to class we checked in a few books. Then we did the thing that I am terrible at, we covered books. I thought I was going to do very bad but with Ms. Roof helping me I did a lot better. After completing my first book the bell rang and I was upset to leave because I was doing so well.
Today we got just about nothing done and we shold probably get an F for effort today. You see I was supposed to be scanning books with the hand scnner but i ended up at the computers, Andy made his own "howrse" and was pretty preoccupied with that, Kristi was doing her homework instead of classwork, and Mary was playing on the computes I forgot what on but still. I didn't even finish one row of books how sad is that?!
Today in media aid Tom, Katie, and I all got a little holiday treat from Ms. Roof. After that the rest of the class we all put barcodes on books and then tapped them.
Today the peer tutor class came in. We put barcodes on books. Then we blogged. That is all we really did. Also Mrs. Roof gave us a treat.

Today was another great class because Ms. Roof was in the Christmas spirit. She gave each one of us candy to eat during class. Anyways, today there was only one book to check in so we did that very quickly. Then all we did was put tape on books, pretty easy right? Well I made it difficult. We had to put tape on only the top sticker and I put it on the bottom sticker. So that took longer than it needed to, but then we had to put call number stickers on a few books. Overall it was a great class.

Wow I have A LOT of blogging to catch up to. From 11-1-07. Jeeze! Well here I go.
Today we typed barcode numbers on the computer. Phoebe, Mary, and I had a little system going. Since I’m the fastest typer I typed. Mary got the book, handed it to Phoebe and she read it aloud then I typed it, then Phoebe set in back on the cart. Easy solution to our problems.

Today we did overdue notices. 94 PAGES! Wowza’s! I can’t believe it, but we did it. We all got a stack after Mary chopped them and highlighted the date. Then we were in the middle of organizing the bell rang. We left the rest of it to the next class. It was fun though. Once again I am the fastest one and had my stack done so Phoebe gave her stack to me and I was done. Mary was pretty slow, but fast in a way. It was funny because she forgot to write “Please pay (price of book(s) or return them ASAP.” So she went back and did it. Surprisingly she did them all before the bell rang.

Today we stamped books! Yea! We stamped the front page, the way back, the top, side, bottom, and page 33. It was fun. Mary and I got in our usual fight over a stamp. I admit though it was my fault. I was being greedy with a stamper. But at the end it was ok.

Today there was a lot of books to be scanned, so that’s what we did all day! Once we finished kids would come in a drop off like ten books. More books to do. Gosh, there are so many books. At that point I was ready to break the *Beep Beep Beep* thing. We have to magnetize them and check if they beep and I was getting pretty annoyed. Yes it is still standing tall.

Today we checked our shelves. My section was pretty and neat. Mainly because not as many people go in that section but hey it was neat. Except for a couple books. I felt bad for Phoebe and Mary. Books EVERYWHERE! Therefore, I went and helped them.

Books, books, and more books to be repaired. The books we repaired were missing pages so we copied them from the same book, but with the pages. Then we cut them down to size and taped them in place.

Today we matched printed barcode labels to new books and stuck them onto the books. The hard part was finding the labels. But we managed and made it through the media aid class. Yea!

Today we covered books. Sounds fun and it is fun. Wow, did I just say a part of school was fun? Wow, I think I did…fine I’ll admit it, I did. Ms. Roof taught us how to cut the laminated sticky thing and how to place the sticky part of the book. We made a mess, but have no fear, Phoebe, Mary, and Brittany were there to save the day…well the library. We picked up our scrapes! :-O I know amazing right! I picked up after my self, but Phoebe! Wow!

LAST THING TO BLOG TONIGHT! YIPPEE! Today we did labels. We found the matching labels and the type of book it was (ex. Horror, Mystery, Suspense) and taped it. The tricky part was finding the correct label. It worked. Some books did not even tell you what there were. We just skipped them. Well I know now not to get behind although my media aid will soon be gone and I will be in art. After break I think we have about a week left in Media aid though…

Today in media aid it was pretty melow because Chance wasn't there. We first came in and checked in a few books as usual. After that it was pretty cool!! Ms.Roof brought us into the back room because she said she had a suprise. We went back there and she let us choose a whole big thing of candy!!! That was awesome. After that we put tape over the new barcode stickers. Me and Tim did the wrong thing. We put the tape on the side, not the front of the book. Then we did it over again. Next I put new reference numbers on the encyclopedia while Tim and Karylyn put new barcode stickers on regular books. Wow. What a class.
In media aid, 12/7/07, we started out by checking in books. After that Mrs. Roof put a movie in the DVD player, and we watched it. After that Mary and I were acting like three year olds like always! It was a BLAST!

December 21,2007- Today in media aide I had to work by myself. So I put barcode names in the computer. After that I printed out the barcodes to put onto books that didn't already have one.

Thank you Ms. Roof! We got a treat. I chose Pop Rocks. Mary and Phoebe chose "Hello Kitty Pops" and hated it. They traded it in for pop rocks. The three of us sat there, NO ARGUING, and ate our pop rocks. Then the Phoebe and I talked about how slow the ay would go, and boy did it go slow. The bell finally rang (Not that we wanted to get out of class).

12/11 Today we did something we normaly never do. We put bar code stickers on the books. The bar code is very importent. It is the tool we use to organize the books.
12/13 Today there were more books in the drop box than usual. They are sending more late notices out because the semester is ending. The students want to get the books in so they can check more out.
12/17 Today we started the day as usual by checking in books. Then Ms.Roof showed me something very odd. It was a box full of pen caps. She sells pens in her library in a dispencer. after a pen is bought, the buyer picks a pen cap from the box. Our job was to sort them by color.
12/19 Today we started the day with the usual checking in of the books that were in the drop box. Then Ms.Roof took us into the back room. There were a lot of books that did not have any stickers. There are usually two stickers on a book. One says the genre of the book and the other has three letters that helps us organize them. Our job was to put new stickers on some new books.
12/21 Today we did not get a lot done. As a special treat from Ms.Roof, we sat in the back room and ate pop rocks all period. It was realy fun. It was the closest thing to a party we have had at school all year.

Today in media aid we were really on task. We first came in and checked in some books. It didn't take very long, as usual. Then Ms. Roof toous into the back room and i cut tape for Tim to put on books while Karylyn was putting barecode stickers on books. After that we filed away about 20 books in 5 minutes. After that We put some reference books in the places they were ssupposed to go. As you can probably see, we were definately on task. No question about it.

Today in class me and Matthew got a lot done. We first checked in a few books, and Ms. Roof gave us little tasks to do. First she had us put tape on the spine label of a huge pile of books that did not take very long. Then she had us file away fiction books that we did fast too. Finally, Ms. Roof had us file away a few refrence books that took like 2 minutes. I am just now thinking that this ia our second to last class.

Today in media aid we fixed announcments that are showed on the t.v. around school then we were supposed to blog but we went and help ms. Grosso out by putting the mail away. We got a piece of candy from the office it was yummy!

1/8/08- Today in media aide I first straightened out the chairs so the library wouldn't look messy. After that I put a few stickers onto books for what type of book it is like an adventure, comedy,ect... I put on some number stickers also and that's all I did.
January 7, 2008 In media aide my class we highlighted some papers on for whoever had an over due book, then we put them away in teachers cubbies. Then after that we put tape over the barcodes on the books. Later Rachel came with me to the office to put some lunch menus away in the teachers cubbies.
today i wasnt there for our last class before break because i was in MIGHIGAN(who beat Florida in our bowl game!!!)
